Depends how much money you got and how far you want to go. Why do you want to re-build said engine? What engine is it?

I don't know exactly how much it would cost but parts alone assuming you'd use OE parts and machining i'd expect it to be a well over a grand atleast if you was careful. Of course it depends on what you replace though. (thats by no means an accurate price, just what i'd expect the cost to exceed)

basiclly you would want to blueprint the engine,
well i just finish re biuding my bottom end on my vts, i did use high compression pistons, but it cost me about 1500 quid to biuld it up give or take some!
