Hi all, this is my first post as I just recently discovered this forum and registered
I bought a Saxo VTS (1.4i 1999-2000) almost 3 months ago, took it to the shop to get it checked due to temperature indicator rising to almost 3/4, and after this I noticed the battery indicator would start blinking under certain circumstances.
Bear in mind I'm not a native english speaker and I've learnt "american english" so there's two things there that could lead to me using wrong/incomprehensible terms, since I noticed most of you folks are from the UK.
Another thing to take into account is the fact that I got my license on Nov last year and started driving 3 months ago with the VTS I bought and mentioned previously, so I'm a big newbie when it comes to cars. Car sounds don't tell me much and it's really hard for me to tell when there's something wrong going on.
This problem started probably 2-3 weeks ago, so far the battery hasn't died or anything, car performance wasn't affected as far as I can tell.
I haven't seen the light blinking until I'm on the fourth gear reaching 2300-2500RPMs which is when I would normally switch to fifth gear (I just read in the forums I should be switching gears when I reach higher RPMs..
).
It would seem it blinks more often at higher speeds, 65km/hr+ (40MPH or so), and I believe bumpy roads when going over that speed make the indicator blink more often.
I wanted to see if anyone experienced this, or heard of anything similar.
I would assume it's a bad contact (not entirely sure which is the expression in english), given the increase of frequency when going through bumpy roads and/or high speeds, but perhaps someone had this problem (even with another car I guess) or heard about it and could shed some light on this.
I just wish to avoid going to a shop and getting ripped off, convinced of changing the battery, when it might be unnecessary.
Any help will be much appreciated
