my t reg vtr is starting to over heat very quickly when accerating from any speed......three quarters of the way up gauge some times more......when i travel at a study speed the gauge returns to normal............

    Any ideas why this is....
As need to sort asap as really starting to get on my nerves....

    thanks

I am having the same problem with mine, its a 2000 vtr, i am waiting on a thermostat housing and new thermostat as well and am going to flush the whole cooling system and see if that sorts the problem, i spoke to a guy at the local citroen garage and he said it is most likely the heater matrix but i am not having any leaks inside the car and my heaters blopw hot and cold so i think that out of the question, alough it does seem to be a problem with the saxo's all together.
If i sort the problem i will let you know.

i"d say you have air in the system

    have you tried bleeding it??

same here i agree. just flush it all and bleed it and that should work.

Third on the air in the system. Although unless youve had some work done to the car recently which required a coolant bleed then youll want to look into where the air came from or it'll just come back. Whats the mileage?

does it overheat when idling? check to see if the fan is coming on when it should

doesnt not over heat when at idol....fan does kicking in at bout 50% on gauge.....only when acceralting....quickly or slower.......

    mileage is 88k (ish)

has anyone had the problem and found a cure......if anyone does find a cure let us know thanks....

my fan doesnt kick in until about 3/4 of the guage. Mad.

Your cooling system is inadequate for the job, as above flush refill and bleed using a column of water on top of the radiator filler cap (Can not be done properly without this).

Also check radiator fins for corrosion, especially at the bottom. If they are corrodedfit new radiatior.

    Not definately,
Please check as my post because the rads can rust out pretty bad IMO.

Some engines just run hotter! Mine has been highly tuned and that runs pretty hot sometimes, particularly when accelerating hard.. as long as its not the top or bottom its classed as normal operating temp..

A higher performance engine should run significantly hotter though. You might want to look into upgrading tyour cooling system. I think VTS (maybe just some vts) rads are bigger and therefore allow for more efficient cooling than the VTR.
