Important! : advice on changing my engine please???

    i have a 2000 reg vtr, when i bought it the previous owner had knackered the original engine and had tried to replace it with a lump from a 2003 model vtr, as i have found out this is a pain in the arse as the exhaust is completely different and its a bugger trying to get the right parts when you cant give the reg number over lol. i am now trying to replace this engine with a 2000 spec vtr engine but having difficulty finding one

    so my question is..... will a mk1 vtr engine fit my car easily, will it fit the gearbox and is all the wiring the same? any info would be a great help, thanks.

    im not too clued up on this but im sure someone will correct me if im wrong, some early mk2 had the mk1 engines in and have different ecu pins. find out what engine you have i.e TU and what ecu you have i.e 3-pin or single-pin and it will make shopping around much easier.

    why are you having difficulty finding a 2000 spec engine, we've got 3 all less then 60,000 miles for sale

    yes im a newbie lol, the only 2000 spec engines i have seen have looked like shit so havent bothered with them or they have been high mileage. how much r u lookin for the engines? i currently have a 2003 spec engine to sell if you know anyone who would like to buy it, im taking it out of the saxo this weekend before i go on holiday.
