few probs with vts

right, just bought a saxo vts in pretty good condition, well so i thought, lol. nothing major, clutch bearing is on its way out so im sticking a new clutch in tomorrow.

the main things that are annoying me is that theres a small wine when im driving, not happening all the time, think it sounds like its coming from power steering pump,

also the heaters are blowing cold air constantly, and i was hoping its not the matrix as i dont really want to pull the dash out to get to it. when looking under the bonnet to see if its anything i can see .i discovered a pipe running from the bleed tap to underneath the inlet about 8 " long that has been cut and blocked up, feck no why this is, not too clued up on saxos so any help would be good as i have got to learn some how.

    cheers

The whine is poss the PAS pump as is normal, put on ful llock and try to keep turning - it should get louder as it works harder.

The cutt pipe was likely the pipe that went to the heater matrix and was probably cutt due to the matrix leaking.

There should be 2 pipes going through the bulkhead of course, a feed and a return from the matrix. Sorry but sounds like dash needs to be out fella.

    will try that dude, thanks

yep i think it has leaked a little into the car i think at some point, what problems can it cause if i left it for a week or two?

has the car been overheating? is there a thermostart in the housing?
  5. #5
no its not over heating, its quite good at staying bang on the middle, its just had a new radiator and looks like small signs of a water explosion on the alternator. so a bit jubious to me.

taking a the dash out is easy i did in a few hours and had never worked on saxos before

im changing the clutch today so ill have a tinker with the dash? i hear theres bolts under the engine bay for the dash?

ive got to drive to the isle of white tomorrow. will it be ok to drive with the heater matrix pipe bunged up like it is, ive drove it for 100 miles already and had no issues.

yer it should be fine! just no heating and also if there is no thermostat in the housing it will just blow cold! and bleed the air system mate! the bleed valve is on a water pipe just to the back left of the engine bay as you look at it! looks like a dust cap from tyre valve. squeese the pipe until water appears to be flowing out of the valve, hold the pipe squeesed and replace the cap

the pipe from that bleed tap to the matrix its been cut and blocked, will it still circulate the water properly? also i think its my alternator that is whining rather then the power steering pump, how easy are the alts to change?

Im not an expert mate but i do know since i replaced my heater matrix that the heater matrix is a part of the cooiling system and that the water from the engine goes into the heater matrix then back out another pipe going back to the engine. So therefore i dont see how they have blocked it up! If i was you i would just connect it to the pipe that comes out of the heater matrix with some copper pipe and then it will be the same, just your wont have your heating ...

i believe it is blocked because the matrix was leaking, shall i connect the feed going to the matrix to the pipe going out of the matrix and just by pass the matrix for a week as im going to the isle of white tonight, any sax-p veterans in isle of white to help me when im over there?

just looking under the bonnet as its completely baffled me. the only way i can think of that its been blocked off and still circluating water is that the heater matrix can be just bypassed by blocking the feed and returning it round. im a ametuer when it comes to colling systems and all that, please any help anyone??
