Harness Fitting & Best Place to Fix to.

  1. #1
    As above,

I have some TRS 4 point harnesses and wondered if anyone could let me know which bolts i will need to fit them and also best place to fix the harness bolts to as i have seen people locate them in different places but want to have them fixed to the safest and most effective place.

    Thanks

    Dan

when i had 4 point harness's i fitted the 2 straps to the seat/seatbelt mounts in the rear using the bolts from the seatbelts, in the fron people do it differently, i personally drilled a hole through the transmission tunnel and fitted a bolt through and a fia nut/plate on the outside and the side nearest door i fitted it to 1 of the holes that hold the rail at the bottom of standard seatbelts

ok cheers mate, i did a search but am still a little confused.

anyone got any pictures or diagrams?

are you taking rear seats out? if so once you have the rear becomes very easy to understand/do

full interior is already out, will be removing carpet this weekend.

This is how i have setup my six points. And used a harness bar on the cage to dot he shoulder straps, but the rear seatbelt holes are what you need.

Photo was taken at sunset so excuse the shadows ruining the pic a bit

rears will come very apparent to you once you go to fit harness's, fronts aree the same tbh, i never looked at any diagrams or anything when i fitted mine

lovely cheers adam, those 2 eyebolts are for the lap straps correct? did you have to drill the hole in the transmission tunnel or was it already there?

the 2 for the rear, could they be paired together and placed in one bolt?

don't place 2 together in the rear, might aswell of got 3 point if you did that and it isn't the safest option

you'll need to drill hole in trans tunnel

ok no worries, is there 4 bolts in the rear to bolt each strap to?

ok i will drill a hole and get a decent spec bolt for the underside.

Drilling a hole in the tunnel would be the easiest way, i welded my fia bolt plates in.
What do you mean about the lap straps?
  13. #13
Make sure you plate behind if your drilling the hole, the shell itself wont be strong enough

There are 4. Forget the 2 front ones that are close together. They are for the 5th and 6th point.
The other two top and bottom of the pic are the places you need to use

ok thanks. yes what i meant it the 2 that you pictured top and bottom are for the lap straps and the straps which go through the top of the seat will fix somewhere in the rear?
  20. #20
Yes, thats all right. And there are enough points at the back. One is up high and the other is down low. I think that's how others have done it
  21. #21
    ok thanks adam.

so for the 4 points in the rear i could use the upper seatbelt bolt (near the rear window) and the lower seat belt bolt (where the rear belt buckle bolts to)

Yeah, Take a look through the progress threads and find someone with 4 points without a cage
