iv got a mk1 1.1, now im wondering are the exhaust manifolds and down pipes on a mk1 vtr bigger than mine? if so if i replaced mine with a vtr one would i have an increase in power?
cheap way, by a vtr lump for £50 or a vts lump for £200 put it in. done, over double the power. then you'll notice a difference. its said all the time, but its true.
as for the vtr manifolds... i don't think many people will know as not many tend to waste their time trying stuff like that.

MK1 VTR mani will fit your Mk1 but power gains from this will be minimal. decatting the MK1 is easier and will free the revs up a bit. This would be easier than swapping the manifold and decat will give a better power increase and will be less hassle fitting. If you want a lot more power save up and get a 1.6 in there

the cheaper way to get "more Power" it's....loosing weight!
Take of everything you don't need in your car
You'll not get more power...but the car will be very quicker!
