what actually makes the power differencei gather its head work or something along those lines but what is different?
vtr black top vs silver top
-
#1
-
#2black tops carb silver tops injection engine, ecu, and heads different i think there onli difference ect but dont not 100%
-
#3cant be coz mines a black top and i can clearly see injectors so it has a ecu i.e injection
-
#4they do a 90bhp black top, a 90bhp silver top and a 98 bhp silver top. All of which are injection
-
#5ok then didnt know that lol so what changes did they make to get it to 98bhp as im curius
-
#6location of catalytic converter (manifold cat instead of under car)Quote:ok then didnt know that lol so what changes did they make to get it to 98bhp as im curius

revised inlet manifold
3 plug ecu over a single plug
slightly different head desigs ie: inlet port spacing, roller rockers over non roller rockers etc -
#8there was no "carb" engine version of the saxo. PSA phased out carbs in favour of fuel injection way back in 92'.
-
#9lol db_sax you would have though that stupid cunt in your pic would have cut her hair with all that compensation. slaggggg
sorry to go off subject ive got mk2 vtr in the weird year where its a mk2 shape but still got 90bhp engine, stupid french twats!!!!!! :@
-
#10ive got a january 2000 vtr silvertop, how can i tell if its 90bhp or 98bhp?
-
#11my mates got a got a black top swear he told me it was a carb engine, but i have neva worked on a black top, so onli reali no vts blocks, my bad.
-
#13i havnt checkd the ecu pal, mines a v but the cat is in the engine bay like as soon as the mani comes out the car
-
#14main gains were from the inlet mani, and the mapping of the newer ecu
-
#16Black tops are roller rockers
and silver tops arnt or one way or the other.
the compression in the 98hp model is higher than the 90hp silvertop
the black tops have dished pistons, silvertops have flat (i know the 98hp are flat atleast)
the port spacings on the blacktops are the same as the 90, the 98 are different.
its mainly due to high comp -
#18al check the ecu, is it posible that sum idiot has changd my mani and left the cat underneath in?? is that possible or not?? i need to check haha
-
#19tis possible yes.
-
#20oh no, i defo need to check that with all the bodge up garages these days. is it just the cat that gives it the 8bhp difference?
-
#21forgot to ask, cud it possibly b an engine swap?? the lambda sensor lead is in the rite spot nd that
-
#22only thing is is that if the mani had been changed and you had mk1 engine and loom you wouldnt have a second o2 sensor so would have a hole in mani somewhere cos apparently 98bhp models have 2 o2 sensors? some weird shit?!?!?!
-
#23thats wot i was finking, the o2 sensor wud fuk up, like being in the rong spot
-
#24holes are easily blocked up

are you certain theres a cat under neath?
they may of just whacked the manifold with cat on as that was the only thing avaibale at the time -
#26i havnt checked for a cat underneath, i just seen the short fat 1 in the engine bay nd presumed that was it, i will have to check like. wots if its a 3 plug?
