Bolt to nut conversion.

  1. #1
Has anybody converted their wheel bolts into studs for nuts?
I know it's as simple as but has anybody got them and hasn't had any problems like the threads winding out as you tighten or loosen the nut?
    Cheers

I did on mine. Changed to studs and it was great for changing wheels and brake discs.

I used Loctite blue on the studs after chasing and degreasing the threads and never had a problem with the studs unwinding.

Why? Because of the name? Or have you had experience with other manufactures breaking during service?

I went to my local bolt place and got some high tensile studs then some nuts from a local wheel place.

Can you get locking nuts for them too as all the ones i've seen just use a normal nut on all 4 studs?

i dont agree colin, ive had some made (see my thread) and they are more than likely better quality material than the pugsport stuff..

ive also converted the thread pitch from m12x1.25 to m12x 1.5. see willsy's picture. those are my new studs compared to the el cheapo rallye design studs.

I got mine on ebay - it was a cheap kit but so far had very few problems with them. All locked into place with Loctite High Temp Threadlocker, no complaints except one or two threads slightly damaged in the post, but only needed 12 out of 16 good studs anyway
