Confusing with engine management light

  1. #1
My engine management light had been on for a while and the garage had a look at it while they replaced my driveshaft, the machine came back saying it was an old catalytic converter however the light was off... My exhaust recently snapped off right below the cat and i got it welded back on today and on the way home the light pops back on... any thoughts?

maybe where it is welded, there is still a hole where the gases are escaping and causing the lamba to set off the light, maybe get a new cat or faulty sensor, will be one of the two

how much roughly is it for a new cat?

also... even when it was snapped the light wasn't on then... only after they welded it and about an hour later it popped on.

maybe the heat from welding damaged the sensor, did he unplug it when welding?

I have no idea about if he unplugged it. I may just get it replaced or something in a month or two, is it an MoT fail if the light is on?

Yea i think so, if its the lambda sensor it will fail on emissions

what? if the machine comes up saying its failing on emissions it means the lambda sensor has gone in it?
