False Floor and Cooling.

I was planning on putting a false floor in my weekend to clean the boot up a bit, however my Amp can get pretty damn hot. Was thinking about putting some computer fans down there to keep it cooleded as i've head about other people doing this, does that do the job of keeping it cool under a false floor and prevent it from overheating/causing damage to the amp and sub? Also how would i go about wiring them up so they actually work.

    Thanks, Ryan.

can you not just take a positive and negative off the amp and maybe put some vents in the floor?

Yeah i was thinking of that just didn't know if power would be too high for fans or something. My amp still gets pretty hot as it is sitting in the boot, so had to fiddle with the gain and put it right down to stop it getting to hot, just was thinking if i got some fans on it would mean i would be able to keep the amp cool to prevent overheating. Or am i just being an idiot and there is more to it then simply keeping it cool?

Use the remote wire on the amp its only a small current and they will turn on with the headunit on

but still best to have ventilation on the fron and back of false floor

what you could do is put 2 fans around the amp under the floor or cut hole in the top in one off the corners which covers the amp and have it suck out the hot air

Ah right, well i'll give that remote part on the amp a go as that makes more sense, what with coming on wit the headunit. Where did you guys make hole in the false floor? I was thinking maybe the back two corners for it or maybe just the one?

With the remote bit, is it fine taking a possitive and negative off the of the amp teminal, cus theres just the one for the remote isn't there?

    Thanks for the help, Ryan.

i'm at the point of making my false floor too. don't think my amp gets very hot but have thought about putting fans in.

My idea was to get something like the ports on a sub box?

have two of them in the floor? put the fans under those? make sure they are facing in the correct direction, one to suck air under floor, other to blow it out?

with the flow of air passing over the amp it should be sound?

just the idea i came up with
