funny twag / bong noise

alright guys, i recently started getting a funny noise from the rear of my car. i had it lowered about 6 weeks ago and not sure if something has come lose? anyway it sounds like some thing is hitting the back box and echoing, i know the exhaust isnt getting hit because i took the system off and rolled the car forward and the noise was still there. also when rolling the car forward i felt slight resistance (like something is preventing the wheels from turning) then when a small amount of pressure is applied TWANG and its fine. it is doing this constantly!

has anyone ever experienced this? sorry the description vauge... could it be a rear wheel bearing? or along the lines of?

    cheers

sound's like a metal PINGGGGG? (lol)

If so probs be the rear ARB plate.. the nuts are known to snap.. so might be that.. either drill/retap the hole, or bodge a blob of weld on the plate.

Very likely the ARB plate as you described but radius arm bearings also make a similar noise when they are strting to die. Hope its not the latter.

thanks guys. could be the arb plate, the wheels look fine on the rear- the bearings arent prone to destroying themselves so i hope they are ok. will go check the arb nuts although it didn have new ones put in when it was lowered! any other ideas?

Hey mate, itll be the ARB end plate bolt.

Its quite common for them to come loose over time, theyre only supposed to be done up to 25nm too which is not much more than nipped up.

Grab yourself a bit of loctite, pop a bit on the thread and then make sure its done up and itll cure the noise

Well I check the arb plates and the nuts weren't lose- what about the moving parts of the brake load unit on top of the axle? Could that cause any noise?
