   Hi im a little worried just got my car de-catted and a big backbox on it. Sounds amazing however will it use loads of fuel very quick or what? Cos if it does then cant afford to keep fueling so will have to stick cat back on.
   
   Is there anyone here with de-cat exhausts that can enlightern me a bit?

   It shouldn't effect fuel to an alarming degree. If it does then something is wrong

   If the amount of fuel your using would be to an equivalent gain, say 30hp and the actual gain is 4hp then fuel is being wasted and not being burnt efficiently at some point in the line.

   phew cheers needed reasuring cos lots of people get decat so thought well there not going to do a mod that costs loads to fuel. Well it might just be one of those spare of the moment thong but driving home from kwik fit i did show off a bit cos i was excited and the fuel dropped from a half to a quarter! Going in car later tonight so will see if it is at half again now i will drive slower lol and only show off if and when appriate lol

   ok quick update jumped back in car and checked fuel gauge and back to half a tank so all is well touch wood but yeah will keep my eye on it though. Just wont rev inapropriately only when neccessery but if i drive at 2000rpm or less will it be ok on fuel

   Shouldn't see any difference in fuel consumption.

   Is it true, my mate said he called pulled over with a de-cat and got 3 points for having it?! WTF.. i dont want to risk my license?! Enlighten meee Peoplleees!

   3 points is a bit harsh. usually they just give you an advisory to get it changed as soon as. Unless they are very harsh coppers

   He probs told them it was or was the unlucky one to get caught with the CO2 meter that can test if it is or not. In theory its not road legal and wont pass MOT. But if you tell any cop its in the manifold and its just genually a loud backbox then your ok. But if you get insured and tell them its De-Cat then you should be ok you can have a bore exhaust as long as you dont belt it down the road letting it scream cos then you are asking for trouble

    never heard of the police sticking their head under car to have a look, and any way if he wants to try and put his under my car he can try but his head well sure as hell get stuck cos only ghandi can fit under there!!!!!

    Dont think i have ever heared of a cooper looking under the floor of a car but you can get done for having a de cat i am almost possitive
