    Hi guys
Does anyone know what that sensor is for? and what use is it because i have just manged to smash the connector box and ripped all the wires out from the sensor. my engine manegemant light came on but when i diconected the box and cut the wires the light has now came off.

Is this sensor really needed to maintain the cars performance or will i be fine without it?

Thats your lambda sensor, it controls the fueling. You can just about drive the car without it, but it wont fuel properly and wont do the engine, or the cat for that matter, much good atall.

A new one is about £60, all you need to swap them over is a 22mm spanner, and to remove your induction system to get to the lambda clip, very easy job mate.

If it's the post CAT sensor (second one) then no it's not really needed - it's just there to check the CAT is working properly. If you don't have a CAT, placing that sensor in a metal sleeve sometimes makes the light go out.

If you're not bothered about the light, just drive it around as is.
