Lambda Sensor Removal

  1. #1
Ok been trying to remove my lambda sensor from my manifold (Bank 1) but it aint budging at all

Even bought that tool that is used to remove 22mm lambda sensors but it is just rounding the bolt off were using a 2ft length of bar on the socket but it just keeps slipping off the bolt!

Could i just go and cut the full bolt off think that would get it off so i can fit a new one or even drill holes into the bolt and then just break away the bolt parts which are left would this be ok ?

    Thanks

You can get spanners that are like a C shape on a hinge and undo nuts from like 17-26mm bolts.

As you undo the bolt the C grips harder.

I've always had a success with one.

I took ages trying to undo the one in the centre section. Ended up putting the spanner on and giving it a short sharp wack with a big hammer and it cracked the seal and came off fine

i remember i removed one before and i used plenty of wd40 and a blow torch and eventuly it came out

Got that C tool like says above.. Its an actual socket made for lambda sensors but they just slip off the bolt. Gonna just cut it off (Hopefully) lol

If any small bits falls into the manifold downpipe will they just be shot out the exhaust ?

what about heating it up put the spanner on the nut and then heat the pipe around it thats how i got mine out

I heated the manifold up by taking the car along the back roads and it still didnt budge

My lambda sensor is knackered aswell and the EML is popping up and crappy mpg
