Cylinder head corroded!

hi there. I have recently pulled the head off my 1.1 and noticed corrosion around the water ports about 2or3mm deep. I was just wondering whats the most it can be skimmed and can i get a thicker gasket to compensate?

Get it welded, and then skimmed flat and the water gallery shaped back to oem.

I presume it's an aluminium head

In the past I've paid about £35 to get corrosion welded up and then £35 for a skim and water gallery back to oem shape.

Remember to use the right amount of antifreeze, not putting enough in can lead to this corrosion.

Yeah il remember to do that when its up and running. I only wanted to change the hg because of an oil leak. Didnt notice it losing any water or condensation etc. i heard the oil leak is a common thing on the tu engines.
