low oil level warning light?

Hello all, got a small problem. I bought a saxo vtr on wednesday and i changed the oil and filter as the oil was black and there was only about 2 litres in there.

Every now and again when i jump in and quickly start the car up an orange light that looks like a dipstick flashes for around 20 seconds then goes out?

The oil level is dead on the maximum mark on the dipstick. Anyone know why this would be happening?

    Thanks
    Joe

normally the wires going to the senor on the front of the block breaks due to age really - this can cause the above problem.

It happened with mine, I soldered and re-wrapped it up and been fine since.

It's the sensor that is right above the oil filter on mk1's - it point's downwards towards the sump and normally green

saxo doesn't have a coolant level sensor, only a temp sensor.

The temp sensor reading hot can be an inclination that coolant may be low, but this would only come on after the cars been running for a bit, not within the first 20seconds of starting the car up.
