saxo vts wheel bearings

  1. #1
hi, i had some play in both front wheel bearings so i changed both at the same time i put a new lower arm on the left hand side as well, about a week later the left hand bearing was fukd so i put another in an a few days later that one is on the way out! both times they pressed in fine
im thinking myb the new arm is slightly shorter than the old an the driveshaft is putting to much pressure on the bearing??

anyone had a similar problem?? the arm was from europarts so nt the best quality lol

    cheers

    Wrong bearing?

The bearings match the driveshafts. Have the driveshafts ever been replaced.

There are tapered and non-tapered shafts. There is a bearing to suit each. Fit the wrong combination and you will go through bearings like there's no tomorrow.

thought the bearings were the same, just the hub that was different between tapered and non tapered

yer ive changed both drive shafts, the two bearing choices every where gives me are the same outer diamiter but thers 2mm difference inner, my hubs are the bigger diameter 37 or 38mm i think. do you mean the hub carrier can tappered that goes through? or the drive shaft face that sits against the bearing?

    cheers

later driveshafts have a tapered face, which if mis-matched with hubs/bearings designed for non-tapered shafts, will wreck bearings in no time. maybe the bearings are different diameter between the two but i know the taper is actually machined in the hub itself.

ah rite yer my hubs are the tapered type, ill have a look at my driveshaft. i got the driveshafts both at the same time so i would hav thought they would be the same and the right hand side is fine, but again there from euro parts so cnt be sure!!

    cheers for your help
