not why as in why have one why as in why pay that much, ive made one out of 50mm pipe from B&Q £6,68 for 3m and it actually looks exactly the same ill get some pictures up as soon as its nicely painted know you may think it would look cheap but it actually looks really goood
show cage why?

-
#2lets have picture so can have a look
-
#3pics pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
-
#4its still very much a work in progress, making me go out in the cold to take pictures aswel

-
#5lol, he has a point, it does look as bad as a show cage.
Seriously tho, good point made mate. -
#6Is this a joke?
...looks like cheap plastic pipe to me.
-
#7I think it actually is waste pipe
I'll keep my showcage thanks... Until i buy an OMP one anyway.
-
#8how is it fixed mate?
-
#9im just going to get my mate Mr Fabricator to make me a custom full cage i think.
-
#10lol looks different to your normal show cage. is it plastic?
-
#11Looks like you'v stolen someones drainpipe
-
#12oh mercy...
-
#13fail
-
#14a whole shipment of fail
-
#15give the guy a chance you've only seen one bit of white metal and already slating it, if a real showcage was painted white would it look any different, i'll reserve judgement until i see the whole thing out of the car
if it looks good as a show cage then people who pay more for a bit of metal that provides no support at all are the "shipment of fail" -
#16+1
i agree with jeffchiz -
#17You say wait until you see the whole thing out of the car.
Can you not see the joint near the Pillar? that doesn't look good to me.
-
#18Nice try mate, doesn't look all that bad being honest. I think some people are too quick to instantly say fail.
-
#19Another idea for you mate, instead of buying polycarb windows you could use cling film... would look good with the plastic show cage.

I can't see how people can possibly think this is anything but fail.
-
#20Doesnt look any worse than a showcage imo....probably as strong as well lol
-
#21Good Pictures needed in the day tbh.
-

+1 i could not agree more -
#23Look at a showcage, then look at this. You will see why a showcage looks better.
I like how you're thinking dude, everyone like's a cheap mod. Just sometime's it doesn't quite work - and this is one of those times in my opinion

#24to be honest i think show cages look rubbish, its just so people out side the car think you have a real cage and imo this does the same thing, its just some white metal to look like a real cage so i dont see why people spend so much a show cage but are slating this
-
#25have u welded the pipes together lol
-
#26becuase this wont fool a monkey lolQuote:to be honest i think show cages look rubbish, its just so people out side the car think you have a real cage and imo this does the same thing, its just some white metal to look like a real cage so i dont see why people spend so much a show cage but are slating this

#27Blue Peter Toilet Roll jobbie imo.
-
#29totally agree with jeffchiz. The only reason it may look a bit more plastic is because it is white. I think you have done a good job so keep it up and show us when it is finished...dont let me down now though lol!!!1 user thanked this post:

#31Why are people saying its white metal?...

As he states £6.68 for 3metres... good luck finding metal that cheap! -
#32nothing wrong with show cages...ive got one.
just mines made proper... -
#33just depends what your in to, i wouldn't bolt some metal in to my car that doesn't do anything but add extra weight its just a little chavvy for me as the local "rude bois" round me have them , its just trying to tell people you have something which you dont, in my eyes its like getting a set of hub caps that look like alloys, you just look at them and say why have you spent real money on them lolQuote:nothing wrong with show cages...ive got one.
just mines made proper...
but if you like them then fine im not petty and start having a go at people just because i dont like what they've done to their car -
#34paid £170 for my show cage...
-
#35Good job, will look good when painted.
-
#37if i told you, that its got door bars, and properly bolted to the chassis and some italians made it?
and it would probably do something in a crash...
would that change your mind lol... -
#39
-
#40apprently its classed as one...

i love you borbet A's... -
#41lol id dint see the white writing until i clicked the quote button, cheers
lol well then i think were talking about different things clearly the cage you have is actually decent and not a "show" cage lol you got a link to the cage you have?
-
#42its in my progress thread.
but if you want to by one, then im affraid to say they not made anymore, i wanted and omp one as its decent, and will fit in with full interior.
remember seeing a mk4 golf with one ages ago, kinda where i got the idea from -
#43I think we scared the poor guy who made the thread into not replying he must be embarased
lol
-
#44I did notice he hadn't replied
-
#45Should have closed the thread there and then, it pretty much sums it up james.Quote:Doesnt look any worse than a showcage imo....probably as strong as well lol
lol @ the show cage owners getting high and mighty, acting as if they don't own a peice of crap pretending to be something it's not...
oh the irony1 user thanked this post: -
#46no you havnt scared me off, but tbh i thought i was going to get gang raped
i cant upload pictures just yet but ive changed it abit and looked at "show cage" picture's to try make it more like your such unreal show cages
-
#47lol awww u wouldn't get raped haha im still holding judgment at the mo, but like i said i dont like show cages anyway but if yours look reasonable then people may stop wasting their money on real ones lol
-
#48i want a real cage, just cant afford one at the moment so i thought id try something differant and try save some other people money doing it aswel, anyway im going to buy a memory card reader so i can upload some more recent photos, ill update later on tonight
-
#49changed abit to suit taste's still rather do this than pay £££ for a "showcage"

still not 100% finished though -
#50lets be honest, if you can make one good enough out of plastic piping..
most people wouldnt be able to tell the difference between that or a proper show cage
not for me anyways -
#51erm dont know whaat to say need closer pics of joins and how its secured but to be honest couldnt do it to my car lol...........heres one i made earlier
-
#52lmao agreedQuote:Should have closed the thread there and then, it pretty much sums it up james.

#59Here's mine its in the for sale section if anyone intressed?
-
#60Dude. Get a grip, quiet down and get a plate that fit's your boot. Then come call us for having things that look crap.Quote:lol awww u wouldn't get raped haha im still holding judgment at the mo, but like i said i dont like show cages anyway but if yours look reasonable then people may stop wasting their money on real ones lol
As for your second attempt pal, it looks better

#61The plastic cage is great lol spray it red and get some Saftey devices stickers on it facing outwards, you wouldn't tell the difference LOL
-
#63seriously? blue peter spec roll cage oh dear.
-
#64That's the worst thing you can say about my car is the number plate lolQuote:Dude. Get a grip, quiet down and get a plate that fit's your boot. Then come call us for having things that look crap.

nice to see you dont say anything to J222JRA, db_sax and ashleyp do you along with all the other people slating it
I'm one of the only people sticking up for the lad!!
GTFO -
#65i think some pics outside the car would clear things up
-
#66They said they don't like showcage's, they're entitled to an opinion - as you are.Quote:That's the worst thing you can say about my car is the number plate lol

But they didn't keep coming back throwing abuse around.
And actually if i'm honest there's a lot i don't like about your car - just the number plate really sticks out like a sore thumb... But it's my opinion. I have my own taste as do you and everyone else.
I don't particularly care what you think about showcage's tbh. I'd rather have a proper cage and hopefully i eventually will. But i have more important thing's to buy tbh.
You got really heated in what you were typing in all those replies and it just made you look bit of a noob.
I'm by no means having a dig at you now but seriously just chill.
And i also said the lad's second attempt was better. Just said that i'd rather keep my showcage than something made from B&Q.
Peace
-
#67Got mine for free
was in a saxo i bought too break for parts......
-
#68surely, youd have to roll the car to make it a roll cage...
until then its always on show = show cage...
no matter how many points of contact to the chassis it has... -
#69Quote:surely, youd have to roll the car to make it a roll cage...

i think the diffrence would show up if you rolled with a show cage or a real cage tho... thats the diffrence -
#70is it plastic ? looks metal to me ... either that or he's made fake welds round the joining points ...
-
#71haha! i like that way of looking at it.Quote:surely, youd have to roll the car to make it a roll cage...

can you get some photos of the joins from in the car?
top marks for trying something different instead of going with the trend! -
#72a have to say it dont look that bad mate good luck with it keep on trying dont listen to people on here some are nobs and then some are nice a would say do the cage in red think it would look loads better to mate
