   hey guys my battary light has just come on
   ive been told its probably my alternator, is there anything else it could be?

   could be the wire(s) on the alternator - so it can still charge but the dash panel is telling you otherwise.
   could be the battery
   could be the alternator
   
   You need to get a voltmeter across the battery whilst the engine is running and see what voltage you're pulling.

   i was told my alternator bearings were going anyways
   and that id need it replacing

   and its making a stupid high pitch noise from the alternator
   when you take the band off and run the car the noise is gone

   Could be loose i.e. low tension.
   
   just tighten it up - 5mm deflection at it's longest bit max, or you shouldn't be able to twist the belt more than about 80 degs at that same point.
