Brake Light Not Working?!

  1. #1
Hi guys my MOT re-test is on Friday and i change a few bulbs today ,(front fog and rear Fogs) but my rear brake lights aren't working. i changed the bulbs but that's made no difference and all my fuses are fine. I heard something about the switch near the foot pedal but i am unsure what is needed doing / prices to fix and so on.

Thanks if you can help would be brilliant!

Yes there is a switch look up under the dasboard you`ll see a switch you can get them from ebay in the for sale secion on here on somewhere like eurocarparts or gsfcarparts.Their not that expensive either or it could be the circuit board in the brake light itself which happened to me & I bought 1 off ebay & it solved the problem.

Might be abit of a daft question but are the bulbs sat in the bulbholder the right way round, i thought i had something wrong with the bulbholder circuit once because i didn't fit the bulb in the right way. I would have the rear night lights on and when i braked the 3rd brake light would go on but the rear brake lights would go out. Just a thought anyway....

If your fuses and bulbs are o.k, then get someone to look at the brake lights whilst you physically operate the brake switch with your fingers, with the ignition on. If the lights work then the adjustment is out, if the lights don't come on then the switch is naffed. Only costs about £3 for a new switch and takes about 10 minutes to change.
