Rocker Cover

  1. #1
    Hi Lads and Ladies

I'm prob going to sound really stupid now but i need abit of advice. Im 17 and i love working on cars. But i dont know that much. I want to take my rocker cover off and paint it, but i've been told that if i take it off, i will need to change the gasket. Is this right? and sorry if that is the wrong name for it

    Thanks For Any Help

You dont NEED to change it, but due to the age of saxos, they are normally quite worn and so most people change at this point (its easy to do if you have the cover ofd anyway)

They are about £13 from citroen which are much better quality then copies you can get from other places

    Ok then. Cheers mate
Is changeing the gasket as easy as taking the old one off and putting the new one on with abit of oil to seal it?

the gasket (if the same as mine) is just a rubber piece which fits nicely on the bottom of the rocker cover.

its a very simple job, should take no more than 10 mins from start to finish really.

best thing to do is invest in a haynes book as this has alot of advice and pictures for similar jobs to this.

if the rubber looks perished or feels hard change it,but if i had to take one off i would change it anyway
