Dewipering

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

I'm trying to dewiper my car, I've lifted up the catch and undone the bolt but am having trouble trying to take the wiper blade off the holding screw itself... did anyone else have this trouble, how did you manage to get it off?

I know I'll obviously need a gromet afterwards, I heard about one under the carpet or something?

    Thanks.

If youv taken the final black screw/washer off, then you may have to heat the wiper end up with say a hair dryer for it to come free. Either that or resort to getting the hacksaw out and cutting it off

EDIT: make sure you put a load of wd40 on to see if that helps before you get the hacksaw out lol

Cheers. I tried WD40... nothing lol. It's quite stiff to pull off so I'll try the hair dryer and if nothing I'll probably give up.

It can be cutt carefully with a hacksaw, don't yank at it because the window will shatter

I had to resort hacksawing it off. Well worth it though IMO.

i used an angle grinder on my coz i was getting soooo frustrated did the job though

lol mine came straight off just. gave it a little wiggle and jobs a good'n. Also if you're looking for a grommet look in the for sale thread. There's a bloke on there that sells one that's the perfect size and sits nice and flush with the glass.

out of curiosity which grommet do you take from under the seat or boot?

    Tom

i just took any grommet from the boot... just looked under the carpet and there was a random one lol

i dont even think i had to saw mine off or anything, i just kept turning it anti-clockwise and it eventually come free and then put a rubber grommet in from halfords.

same as pearson mate worked well

Just dewipered mine, had the cut the wiper off, the b*stard. Then I just stuck a rubber grommet from halfords in. The grommet doesn't really seem the protective though, and looks like it'll fall out at somepoint. I might have to make something up that will bolt in place

Lol No mate, you still have the front wipers (or wiper if its had the single arm conversion), but you take the rear arm & blade off at put a plug/blank in it. Makes the back of the car look smoother

mine went through like 3 hacksaw blades. was rusted to fuck. looks loads better without though. halfords grommit fit nice and snug too

Pain in the arse when you have a dirty rear window in the winter thou
Im actually in the process of 'Rewipering' mine, I dont see the point of no rear wiper.
I dont want to have to keep cleaning the rear window before I set out lol

The VTS I just bought has a de-wipered rear....I want my wiper back !!

Driving back home on the M25 with a filthy rear screen is no good

WIll have to see what's left and then find the parts to replace the missing ones

I've still got all the bits that came off when i did mine if anybody wants them for free? Think it's motor, all the nuts and bolts, possibly even wiper blade.
