    very valid excuse then...
  15. #15
i put my finger through the metal when doing my engine conversion under the ecu lol but mine is no where near as bad as that
  16. #16
Thats only the start of it! If they rust it'll prob need inner arches jacking points etc done too, i know from experience !
  17. #17
that sucks mate. got a hole im my 2001 vtr similar place just nowhere near as bad, ground the rust out when i spotted it, just need to get round to welding it before its back on the road

think il do it tonight when i get in from work, and the funny thing is the inner arches and sills are sound, iv cleaned the underneath of the car and undersealed it to stop any more rot. its not really a big job to weld a plate in, just shocked to see the hole there tbh.

OH, that is a fair hole..you will definately want to stop that ASAP lol..

Love a good bit of welding

Was jacking mine up the other day and near the jacking points on both sides at the front there are like three grommets either side and i pulled them out to find i had made a big hole on the passenger side!! Is this common on saxos?will have to get it welded.

quite common for it to be rusty under their, painted my pals one the other week had a little rust showing...
  22. #22
mine is way way way worse than that..... but my dad knows a guy with a welder so cheap welding for the win!
  23. #23
    i must check mine too.

    that sucks man..

  24. #24
the sills are common as muck, mine went, although my stepdad used to be a welder so he did it for me. thank god.

might go check my car under there now. how come it rusts there, no wheel arch liner?
  25. #25
Mine has a huge hole all the way down from under my ecu to around the screenwash filler neck!

I can weld but i just cba to do it just yet, got a solid piece i have cut out of my breaking saxo ready to weld in properly and paint but its just finding the time and space to do it these days

and if you just plate that hole mate it will still rust from the other side! i would cut it out and weld a new bit in and then protect and paint

cut all the rot out today and welded a plate in, cleaned it all up and will paint it tomorrow and get some pictures up, i had to cut another bit out that had started to rot aswell that is the bit that i welded the plate to, and im not sure how it rots here, maybe were there is a hold in the arch liners maybe?

just need to put some seam sealer on it then paint it all up and underseal the underneath
