Ipod Holder

  1. #1
    Hey People

Have been meaning to attempt to make an Ipod Holder for a while now but not quite sure how to do it! lol

Plan to make one to fit snug in the coin tray part in front on the gear stick.
Not sure how I am going to get it to sit in without falling through or hows best to hide the wire :/

Can anyone give me some ideas or show me pics of ones they have managed to make please?

Yeah if you get a ipod classic or touch, they fit straight in the ash tray. Problem solved Unless you smoke lol

I made one in a couple of hours, cost me peanuts. Just MDF covered in fake leather.

Ideally I want it on show though to be a part of my interior.

Thanks for posting your pic Is that just literally one sheet of mdf with nothing on the back? So the ipod is standing on the bottom of the coin tray?

    Yep

Made a template, measured everything twice of corse including the phone and iPod. Then cut it out with a jigsaw, then stuck on the fake lather and staple gunned down loose edges.

i used the little plastic base piece that came with my nano and stuck that in the mdf and covered it. u need to file out the hole a bit bigger for the cable to fit but stands up in ash tray fine

    one of these

them mounted into mdf like lewis's

Looks good Don't think that would work with mine though as the nano is quite small, it would probably just fall through the gap so was thinking of making one so it lays flat.

sorry no. decided i wanted sat nav to sit there instead. all u really had top do was cut hole then cover then sit that plastic piece in after its covered. then the whole nano sits upright and doesn't wobble around

i have made one ages ago, geet a sheet of A4 paper, lay it flat on top of the coin tray and lightly draw the shape and size of the coin tray.
then cut it out, draw onto a sheet of MDF and cut it out, try it for size and keep trimming bits till its perfect

And i drilled a couple of holes in the back of the coin tray and ran all cables through there and out the back so they come out under the dash

That's what I plan to do with the ipod cable but I can't work out how I can make a decent looking holder with the ipod sitting in it nicely!
