Car wont start - changed battery

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

I recently changed my flat battery for a new one. It worked as soon as I changed it.

Now though (2days later without driving) it wont even start, the crank doesn't even turn over.

I have checked the fuses, reset the fuel pump & the battery reads 12v

    Any suggestions?

(Also the central locking is doesn't work and the dashboard lights go a crazy when I put the keys in the barrel?)

How is it a faulty battery if it reads 12v?

starter motor jamed? that what happened with me, when i turned key, all the dashlights went crazy and wouldnt turn over, so i just hit the motor with a hammer and started, amke sure you put battery on charge tho, as you turn the key it draining the battery all the time

    Crank shaft sensor ?

This will make your car fail to start up as on your fly wheels you have little teeth and a bit missing,
well that bit missing is when its at top dead centre when the crankshaft measures it so it knows when to spark/ ignite the fuel/air mixture,

It wont start if this has gone because it carn't find where the TDC is,

    I maybe wrong ?

take your battery to halfrauds and they can test it to make sure its working fine.so you can rule it out.sometimes its the simpleist things.

it'll still crank over with crank sensor missing, sounds like faulty battery, bad earth or duff starter to be honest

    That sounds spot on!

I can't find my starter motor though! lol Is it behind the flywheel? My car is lowered which is going to make this a pain if it is.

    Thanks

take inlet piping off and you'll see it tucked under the inlet manifold

you can just about see it if you take the airbox off, or after market air filter, what ever you got on
