Strange problem any ideas driving me mad

   I have a massive head ache of a problem that no one seems to be able to fix here goes.
   its a mk1 97 vtr saxo
   i cant get it to start, my mechanic has changed the crank shaft sensor, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump relay,replaced the fuel pump had the ecu checked, replaced the battery still with no luck. The wierd thing is if i disconnect the electric plug from the fuel pump it will start but has soon has i plug it back on the engine cuts out really weird any ideas would be great.
   Im calling the electrician back to double check wiring is okay if any has any wiring diagrams for a 97 mk1 saxo vtr would be brill

   1/ get a new mechanic
   
   2/ what had you done or had happened before the problem manifested itself?

   thanx for replying
   it started playing up like it as if it was running out of fuel lack of power that sort of sypmton, so it was parked up waiting for the mechanic and never been able to start it again with the fuel pump connected thanx
