I have been qouted 250 for a reconditiong, can anyone do it cheaper or sell me one for a 2001 vtr?
Anyone recondition gearboxes?

#2Its much cheaper to buy another used box but with reconditioned gearboxes your gauranteed there will be no probs. Looking for good used box will not be easy. If you have the money then i will most certainly advise you to get a reconditioned one.

#8I'd check first exactly what has been changed.
90+% of these so called "reconditioned" gearboxes are just new seals and bearings. And they're cheap enough. It's the synchro's that cost a small fortune to replace.
