saxo ignition problem

    Hi, new member here.

My partner has a 1999 saxo auto.

The problem is her key got stuck in the ignition barrel.

after our mechanic managed to remove it he suggested 2 ways of fixing it. A new barrel and key from citreon which would then need recoding or a barrel and key without the code and to tape the coded key to the transponder.

I have gone for the second option as it was much cheaper but now when i turn on the ignition i only get the red battery light and it wont turn over.

Any ideas before i have to go the expensive route??

    Many thanks
