all ways never put the gear from 1st 2nd etc straight into reverse. as the gear shaft is still spinning.

my green sax did that before i got the gearbox refurbed. It was the reverse syncro that was fooked, its a common problem dude. And then its a common ending aswell if the box isn't attended to in time.........................result: no reverse gear and then forward gears will cock up soon after.

I don't think reverse has a syncro. Are you trying to put it in reverse whilst still moving? If you stop the car then try reverse, you shouldn't have any problems.
Trying reverse when rolling forward slightly will make it crunch.

No synchro on reverse - sometimes you'll notice if you 're trying to engage reverse it's difficult or won't select. Just lift the clutch in neutral or roll forward/back slightly and it will likely go straight in (as you will have adjusted the alignment of the gears).

Either do what most saxo drivers do ie put it into first then reverse/release clutch pedal and press it again/let it crunch. It could be that as mentioned there is no synchro on reverse your clutch is not fully disengaging. Try adjusting clutch cable a wee bit.

My VTR does the same, all I do is put the clutch down fully, pull the gearstick towards reverse and slowly lift the clutch. You can feel it go straight into gear with no crunching. Sometimes I don't need to do it, sometimes I do.
I'm just going to leave it and see if it gets worse!

Reverse in all conventional gearbox's don't have syncro's. They use straight cut gears and are engaged using an idler gear
