Was just fiddling about in my engine bay and came across something i've not seen before. in line with the steering wheel at the top towards to windscreen there was an average dust cap (that are found on wheels etc) attached to a pipe curling up and down. i unscrewed the cap and a brown dirty liquid sprayed up in the air easily about 4 ft went everywhere. what was it? have i done any damage to the car???

    PLEASE HELP QUICK!!

A fair bit, i couldnt do anything until it stopped because it was spraying everywhere, ran away then after couple seconds it died down and put cap back on

To be safe then, you'll need to bleed the coolant system and re-fill it.

Depending just how brown and dirty it might be a good idea to flush through your cooling system. Pretty simple job to do yourself... found a walk through here
