throttle response

it might just be me being paranoid but im sure theres a slight delay when you put foot down if there is what could it be its a vts....

prehaps your air filter is blocked, i remember problems like that happening on my motorbike and petrol scooter there used to be a delay, i then cleaned the filter and it seemed to work fine.

It may also be worth checking the spark plugs. If they are knackerd or old e.t.c they may cause this problem (crap / weak spark = less responsive car). I had the same sort of problem so changed the plugs and the car is back to its usual responsive self again. However it could be a number of problems, but spark plugs do not cost much so it could be worth doing anyway.

    Hope this helps

just changed em its made a difference theres just something not right...

you put your foot down it goes and then when it hits about 4-5k its like its found even more power and shoots off even more i dont get it something just doesnt seem right..

also when your in gear cruising letting it rev down for example going down hill you can feel car being pulled forward like it wants to go like its jumping forward...

its standard with just a shitty airfilter for temp till i get paid.. its like a vtec just finds more power out of no were realy wierd...

well am gunna change tps, the sensor that goes into the throttle body from the bottom like a pin in the little hole and coil pack...

Might be the air filter bogging it down a bit, is it a open cone?

I know what you mean about like VTEC, mine feels the same.

ye just a cone but inverted called apirra or something like that just a temp im suppose to be getting a bmc cda very soon... i could understand if it was just abit more power when it hit 4 to 5k revs but it throws ya back to seat it feels quick before that i just dont think its right ill change all those what i said and see what happens..

could the air temp sensor effect engine cos if you tamper with it it makes engine rev higher in idle like some sort of bad connection?

Normal there is always some lag with the throttle. When me and my mate in his C2 GT had rolling starts always found that rolling in first gear you put your foot down flat and it takes a full second to get moving

    sticking throttle cable?

the 16v engines are very responsive

Clean the MAP Sensor, and check the connection and wiring to it!

Some years ago I had a problem with a wrecked wiring of the MAP Sensor, after I repaired it, the car pulls and pulls again.

You could check that, when someone give some throttle, while you play with the cable.

it happens when you put some accel on... could it be that ive still got a 1.4 fuel pump?

its fairly normal for the 16v lump to give a nice bit of extra go above 4000 revs, its what makes it so fun!

does mean that once you're used to it, below 4000 revs it feels quite boring lol

theres abit of a judder to get it going stuggles for like half a sec like a flat spot i think it might be the 1.4 fuel pump ill try a 1.6 see what that does

Standard Saxo's have a 2bar fuel pressure valve, if you replace it with a 4 bar one or a adjustable one you will get better response.

Ive got a Fsa adjustable fuel pressure valve on my 205 gti combined with other mods and makes the throttle response epic!
