everytime i pull off in 1st the car makes a nasty rattling noise. my mate who owns a t plate vtr says its the thrust release bearing on the clutch.is that correct and how much to get fixed? might just put a new clutch in anyway to make it worth the while

    help!!!

I've got this problem but i've only just changed the clutch and release bearing.

    Doing my NUT in !!!

as you say it could be the release bearing it could also be the damage in the box

check your engine mounts, if they are sound, then could be diff, or dodgy driveshaft, try pulling away in second

Pull off in second makes the same noise just not as loud.

Just put some more gearbox oil in and its gone quiter but its still their.

Could it be the bearings in the gearbox ???

I've also jus noticed something that wasnt their yesterday a fuckin leak pissin me off. Its coming from where the gearbox joins to the engine its to dark to be engine oil as i've only recently changed that.

Could these problems be linked ???

    BIG problem now !!!

Oil is now pissin from the gearbox and onto my clutch its slipping its bag off for now. My release bearing quite though. But then i wish it still made a noise so at least i could drive the cunt.

maybe the release bearing has come apart meaning the ball bearings have smashed the gearbox meaning new gearbox
  11. #11
    new gearbox
  12. #12
could also be engine oil leeking out of the flywheel seal

Spiggot bearing iv been told is now fucked. New gearbox next VTS one i think. It should be alrite with a VTR clutch though shouldnt it ??
  14. #14
    think so
  15. #15
What is better though ??? A VTS box or VTR box on the 98bhp VTR ???

Will it go though the gears quicker ?? with the VTS box only doing 50 in 2nd as its 60 in 2nd on the VTR box

hi i got the same problem with the noise pulling away 1st then quiter in 2nd and i garage told me it could be my rivits in the clutch but im prob just going to go for a whole new clutch while am at it havent had it changed.

Sounds like Gearbox bearing to me. On the spiggot shaft. New box is easier than replacing the bearing.
