will it decrease power?

morning all, iv got a mk1 1.1 and have a really nice backbox for my car, BUT it is miles too loud and sets car alarms off. it came off a west coast which has a center silencer, mine being a 1.1 doesnt have a center silencer apparently due to it hindering power. so i though if i get a center section from a westcoast with a center silencer and put it on my car will it hinder power? or will it have the same amount. i know my car is never going to be quick, but i dont really want to loose power over sound, so doesnt anyone know/ think that putting a center silencer on and having my back box which is pretty much straight through will hinder power?

    sorry for the essay

any restrictions in the exhaust will hinder the power but im not sure if it'll be noticeable, i think the cat is the biggest restriction, so i suppose you could buy a decat pipe then fit the westcoast center pipe

or buy a furio pipe, as its a mk2 the cat will be in the manifold so the center pipe will be longer than a westcoast one so it'll decat your car and you can keep your cat and standard center pipe for MOT time

i hadnt thought of that actually, thats a god idea! how im looking at it is the silencer will just be further down the exhaust so im wondering if it will have the same amount of back pressure. i doubt it will affect my performance, but im not sure, only reason i want to keep the exhaust is because i let my mate borrow it on is west coast and it sounded really nice
