What Tyres Best? VTR

  1. #1
Can't see any info on this subject?
Need quality rubber on my VTR which has the standard 14" Toulouse Alloys (185/55/R14) on each corner but needs a couple of rear boots in the next month or so.

They currently have OE Michelin Pilot SX's on each corner and these feel like an excellent tyre but I can't seem to find any anywhere. The only Michelin avaliable are the Energy Saver ones which, correct me if I'm wrong, is not really a performance tyre...

Please can anyone tell me a good quality grippy all weather road tyre they would recommend?

I've had Avon's on in the past and found they were alright, a lot of people seem to opt for Toyo Proxys however i had 4 continental's on and they were the best i've had. Good grip and quiet on the road.

The standard michelins are very poor for grip or feel at the front, but are very hard wearing. I've currently got some Kumho KU31's on the front which are fairly grippy at the expense of wear rate with the standard michelins on the rear and it balances out very nicely in the bends. I'm going to try the CF1's on the front next but I reckon I will be replacing the rears with the michelins again as i like the balance of having the softer rubber up front.

Unfortunately apart from budget wellies, we're kind of struggling for choice in half decent tyres.

Thanks all - will check out the Toyo's and maybe put the Michies on the back...Conties a possibity too but dead expensive, even more expensive than the Michelin's ... Good point though about a distinct lack of decent rubber for the tyre size...
