Saxo VTR, wind noise passenger door

  1. #1
I am getting really loud wind noise (gusting sound) at the front of the near side door. There is no wind leaking into the car. The trim at the bottom of the outside of the door was un-clipped to begin with, so thats clipped back in now. Then I bought a new door seal, but still the same problem.

The door-card on the inside of the door is clipped in fine, the window is shut properly, the door seams to seal ok, so does anyone have any ideas?

    Cheers

    Wing mirror area?

    Arch lining?

    It's a Saxo, not a Jag.

Although i would check the wing mirror area, if it is...cut up a sponge and stick it in any holes

I get sound from wing mirror cap vibrating fast and buzzing at 55+. How much force does it take to shut the door? Does the door sit flush with the rear quarter when clsoed? I would look at loosening th edoor striker on th ebody and moving it inward a few mm. It might just be the door seal is a bit squashed and not doing its job right - yo umay not necessarily feel air blowing in in this case.

it may have been broken into and the door bent back, even i little gap will be a massive noise when you pick up speed

The door shuts normally, and its a more of a whistling wind sound than a buzzing sound. Starts making the noise from about 20mph onwards.
The wing mirror is fine too, no holes or anything. I think it seems more likely that the door has either been bent back a bit, it seems pretty aligned when the door is shut.
The noise is about 3 inches up from the door trim on the inside, along the front edge. The noise goes away a bit when you push the door seal in that place. A bit of a random problem by the sound of it!

The procedure for sorting out creaks/wind noise that I have found to work best is:

    1) Turn on Stereo
    2) Insert slightly scratched copy of "Smash Hits 95" CD
    3) Hit the volume button.

The car is small, but the tunes are big!

P.S Try putting masking tape on the outside of the door in various places around the seal - move a strip about 1m long around unti you can narrow it down???

Haha, I like both of those suggestions! Will try the masking tape, unfortunately I only have smash hits 93, which probably won't have quite the same effect!
