chip and remap

  1. #1
im looking into buying a saxo vtr then getting it chipped and remapped, could anyone who has done this tell me what kind of power it adds, cheers

Do some research first couse what you said dont make sense. Why buy a chip to remap it

Its like buying a remap then remapping it again. Chips are just generic anyway so youll see more gain from a remap.

if you brought a vtr and mapped it you would get the the same preformance as a vts.

Depends where he bringed it to!

Man this thread is shit. Why would you remap a car that hasn't had serious modification? Don't bother, do a bit of research, it's not difficult. Most people do air mods then cams, then remap. Some cams require a remap iirc. No point mapping a standard car, or even one with basic air mods I don't think.

so your sayin he could get a 90/98 bhp car to 120bhp with just a map?

or do you mean once spending some money on it he could get 120bhp after all the other bits and a map?

Most people use a "mappable" chip to "map" anyway, so technically you have to chip the ecu first to then map it lol

I was taking the piss out of the fact he said "brought" instead of "bought". Then I thought I better put something that may be of use instead of just taking the piss. There is no way that a remap could get a VTR at the same level as a VTS I don't think, not 100% sure but I very much doubt it...

he will probs never come back online lol

na i dont think its pos but i dont know loads lol but think about how much brake you ruffly get out of the parts you buy... then all a map does is make them work together

mines camed, cda air box, 4-2-1 mani and straight pipes, vtr inlet..... at the mo its runin 87bhp (its a furio) once mapped ill be lucky to reach 100 i think

It wouldbe possible if somehow you could make the engine 100% efficient. But that's never gonna happen so is technically impossible with the standard charge air capacity

s'oright done some research now, think im gonna lower it, do all air mods want a supersprint system, then cam it then map it, was looking at stroker kits, but could be abit too expensive.
