Gearbox oil (manual)

  1. #1
I have recentley bought a 2001 1.1 saxo forte, and was wondering weather i should do anything with the gearbox oil as it doesn't have much service history...(did a main engine oil change last week) car has done just over 70,000 miles.

Was wondering weather to drain the lot of the gearbox oil or just top it up if it needs topping up?

I can see the drain plug at the bottom of the gearbox...but can't see where to fill it up...i'm assuming it's another plug at the top of the gearbox?

Any suggestions would be greatly appericated?

    Many thanks

the Haynes manual just talks about topping it up, it doesnt say you have to replace. Mind you they are rubbish manuals

Just service it if you are unsure which includes replacing the oil

They are good compared to what? Its a near monopoly

Haynes leave out the most useful things to know for each model. And tell you stuff you dont need to know. Their photos are sometimes unclear etc

I learnt almost everything I know from the Haynes manuals.... Always read and research before you start to mess with things and but apply what you learn logically when getting down to the practical side of things. The wiring diagrams in them arent bad either
