1.1 lowering!!!!

    Right i'm new to this so my bad if there is already a thread knocking around bowt this, basically:
    iv got a saxo 1.1 flat arch obviously, atm iv got 195/45/15 on it and if i have a full car it rubs like mad. Trouble is i wanna lower...so i was wondering if any1 could tell me how to solve the rubbing problem my self then once thats sorted how much i could lower by and still have a full car without it rubbing?

    erm.. well there are a couple solutions, firstly fit lower profile tires or if you did vt kit it you cut away quite a bit of metal to fit the rear arches which would stop it rubbing but both of these are pretty expensive solutions but also fitting much stiffer shocks would mean the car wouldn't go down so much when people sit in it

    im no expert they are just a few ideas off the top of my head

    yea i spose you could fit lower profile tyres but im not so keen on doing that as the potholes in my area are a bloody nightmare and i may end up wrecking my wheels. also the vtr kit is a good idea but i have a very strict budget lol so both of them ideas are a bit pricey for me thanks for your reply though.

    i was speaking to a mate of mine who works in a body shop yesterday and he reckons he's had a few ppl in asking about this and apparently if you cut the small metal lip out from the inside of the arch it stops the rubbing. Can any1 tell me if they have done this and it works?!?!?!?!?

    You grind or bend up the inner arch. My car was down 70mm and i could carry 5 people in the car with no rubbing, and i had 15's.

    On my old flat arch 205's i used to reshape the inner arch with a rubber hammer and flare the arches with rubber hammer/body puller kit. Front and rear when I went down 60mm. Though I think on a saxo that would require removal of the side strips?

    ive got 205s on mine. down 50mm. no rubbing at all on front or rear. same tires aswell.
    had to grind out the rear lip but it all sits snug now
