hi all i put a second hand pump on my saxo today and i had a couple of issues with it. 1, pump is allways on 2,it was turning to the left on its own, 3 when you turn the wheel to the left it feels alot lighter than when you turn to the right. does anybody have any info on what is going on with it. have you heard of this before. any help would be great as i have been on this all day trying to find the problem.

    thanks all for any help.

hi i bought an 03 plate vtr of a friend i work with and it was parked in his garage for 3 and a half years as he got banned. when i went to pick it up the pas pump wasnt working. so i had a look at it and found that the motor had burnt out on it. plugged it up to a batt and no life. so i bought a second hand one and when it came through to me yesterday it wasnt the one that i was expecting as the later saxos have the pot built into the pump. it was the one with the pot above on a pipe. so i phoned them and they said to change the pots over. so i changed them and it worked strightaway but with the faults that i have listed above.

bit of an awkward one really, because the pump you have is second hand theres no saying that its a good one, if the level is ok and not airated (bubbles in the pas oil) then it should work, how long have you had it fitted, have you given the system a chance to run oil through and allow air to dispurse? if it all seems ok but the issues atill remain you might be better of trying to find an exact match, with the pas system being electrical it could make all the difference if there are any slight diferences

the car has a set of oz 16in alloys on it do you think it could be the wheels as they do rub on lock and i think the tracking is out aswell

if they are rubbing then it would create a stiffer feel on the steering, check it out, see if it is rubbing but im sure youd have heard it, and if the steering was ok before it went wroing with the wheels fitted then that probably isnt the issue
