Cammed, remapped VTR

  1. #1
I bought a cammed remapped VTR the other day which needs some welding.
It has Kent Cams, is ported and polished and has had a remapped ECU. Standard air intake (stupidly has the front missing, so sucks air from behind the rad).

It needs some welding at the rear.

My question is, roughly how much power has this got?
Not taken it out yet due to not being insured on it right now.

I know its a crap question, just looking for a ballpark figure. Not know 'what' the kent cams are (if there are many variations of Kent cams for a vtr).

120/130 depending on cam and breathing mods

about 120 bhp could have nearer 130 depends what exhaust/manifold you've got on it

It still as a standard cat on it. It has a vernier pulley to time up the cam.

(Also has a sparco sticker when you open up the bonnet on the left and a saxperience.com sticker on the right, both sprayed over where somebody has colour coded the bumpers and various bits. i think a saxperience sticker adds 2bhp, but with the spray may be only 1bhp)

Due to the cat, i dont think the scorpion exhaust and ridiculous 5" back box has any effect on the performance.

oh yes, it has a fuel boost valve. I know these are potentially useless, but working with a cam may have been installed to keep up with the extra breathing of the cam, but forgot to mention this.

im guessing no as well lol id get either the saxsport or the supersprint/kamracing de-cat exhaust around the £200 mark, and a raceland 4-2-1 manifold will be about £160 and get a decent panel filter an cold air feed then im sure you'll be looking at around 130 bhp

a noticeable amount of power can be had removing the cat, it is a very restrictive part of the exhaust system as well as the standard manifold, a 4 branch manifold lets the gases escape quicker and the pipes are all the same length which apparently effects performance in a good way

I will bear this in mind- I own a vts with some gti6 brakes which i will probably keep as i have had it for over three years now and I am gradually improving it. I saw this VTR and know somebody who can do the welding, so it will be up for sale when done.
