whats need to fit rallye head

gonna do conversion as already done inlet and now valve stem seals have let go on vtr head so time for top end build, and im thinking of doing rallye head on it instead, obviously i'll buy hed kit for rallye (new stem seals and exhaust and inlet gaskets etc) but what head gasket should i be gettin, vtr one which is 1600cc or 1.3 rallye one im sure it would be 1600 vtr one but just need confermation and anything else needed that ive forgotten, oh will hopefully be camming it too while its off

There's alot needing to be done tbh, I ran 1300 rallye head on my vtr, you can also use xsi or 1600 rallye head as they are all the same bar the 1400xsi cam, but if you camming it that won't be any probs.

You will need to convert to ht leads, also if you run 1300 rallye head you need ngk 2288 spark plugs as this head uses different ifs to all the other 8v heads they use +8 bosch plugs and I can't remember the ngk number but the 13000 rallye head is differnt they use twin pronged plugs.
You will also need the big old injectors too fr
either blacktop vtr or the xsi/rallye heads

as for headgasket they are all the same on 8v I think I just got a mls one from gmc

also what cam are you using? Cause you can't use the ph3 cam in a s1 head due to different bearing sizes the come won't fit, you will
need newmans ph2 cam which is a 280deg cam and will need remap, buy iirc you may be able to use blacktop ph3 but not 100% sure on that, also if you use piper they have a specific cam for the rallye heads too and that's 28 deg aswell. I am using the ph2 and have made 120bhp on average over 4-5 runs, that was with s1 head ph2 cam s1 inlet, raceland mani and supersprint exhaust. But as said you will need remap as it's quite a lumpy cam

that seems quite alot of work for 120bhp. dont the standard vtr's with a ph3 cam,4-2-1 manifold, panel filter and de-cat make more than 120bhp??

well its not that much work... few hours to fit the rallye head and not that long to fit a rallye inlet (depends if its been modified to fit a saxo already), if you did your homework and bought everything you needed and new what you were doing you could do it in a day, its probably easier than doing a 16v conversion.

I've done both routes i fitted a rallye head and inlet but i couldnt get it working properly then i ditched the idea and went 16v, but that was only because i didnt do enough research and i think i messed the timing up

tht was 120bhp unmapped by the way, i would have expected another 5bhp or so with remap possibly more, the thing is i was making that power at the limiter basically as the power was still climbing on the graph all the way to the limiter so even if i just had the raisd limiter it would probs make more power, a ph3 isnt much diff to a ph2 its atually less duration dependingif its silvertop or blacktop
the benifit of using the rallye/xsi head is the stiffer valve springs they use standard makes it cheaper than buying new valve sprngs from say piper or catcams

    no probs man
yer it will be easier, plus if youve got an entire lump it means you can fit the cam without having to remove he head if youve go it out the car so you can just slide it in nd change all othr service bits like cambelt waterpump etc still, but its up to you wether you change h/gasket for piece of mind or not

but there is a good one for sale atm on there by robinson which i think is AlexR on here, for what you get for the price is good and anything youdont need lke ecu loom etc you can just sell back on
but if you do cam it you will need a remap remember though or if you use the std cam you will still make good power as its practically a mild cam to the vtr ecu if you get me
