What does my dyno run show me?

    Been told different things by a few different people and just wondered...

    This a totaly standard VTS (52 Plate)

    The torque seems to drop off at 5k ish where as far as i know it should still be pulling? Been told injectors maybe?

    Just wondered if there is anything else you can see from the graph that might need sorting out

    Thats not a bad graph at all, torque curve could be flatter but thats only if your being picky. Torque starts dropping off where you'd expect. Do you have an afr graph?

    Next time you have you car RR'd get an afr as these are more useful.

    Air fuel ratio nvm lol.

    yer that is very inportant information to have as we could tell you if the fuel is correct.

    Looks spot on. Nothing to be worried about.

    If you do change anything and want to see how much power you've gained always go to the same place. You can have slightly different read-outs from different places simply down to slight differences in calibration.

    i've heard to get best results on a RR is to give your car a bloody good servicing first. apparently you could see up to 5 bhp difference.

    it'd make sense because if you've got all shit and that in the oil and its going on the engine to lubricate it its not going to be say easier then when its brand new will it? plus when its all cleaned out properly everything runs better, don't know about it being 5 bhp though

    Well, you're not gaining 5bhp, you're just restoring it/claiming it back from the engine, e.g. it's low on power, and you're just cleaning it out, increasing bhp (if it needs it of course).

    That's pretty much a textbook RR graph for a standard TU5J4 engine.

    Theres two things there that are bugging me though.

    Book says peak power is at 6600rpm, that graph is at about 6250-6500, seems to die off a tad early.
    And secondly, does that rev limit not seem a bit high for standard?

    That's a good point about the rev limit. It's likely that they didn't take the RPM readings from the ECU, as it was most likely a RR day, and wouldn't have time. Therefore, the RPM shown could be quite off.

    As far as the shape goes, it looks pretty good to me. But the confusing RPM could make the actual power results rather inaccurate.

    the fact that the power/torque lines cross at 5252rpm is a good indicator that the rpm for the dyno run was taken from the ecu.

    I have 2 RR plots from NMS, one which was taken from my ECU and the other one taken from the tacho / speedo. Both cross plots have the torqu and BHP lines crossing at the correct RPM, yet the later dyno plot is shifted about 300rpm further to the right, giving slightly higher torque reading.

    to get them to cross at 5252rpm by taking it from the tacho/speedo you must have very accurate dials, and be able to hold the car at a steady position to be able to read. Something I have never been able to do on the dyno

    I doubt the rev limiter has been raised atall

    It was done on a rr day with all saxos there.

    I think the dyno was a decent set up seeming as it was done at ktec.

    Will be interesting to get another reading soon.
