does anyone know by any chance if the inlet port spacing on the peugeot MI16 engine is the same as the TU5 vts?

It bolting up and you physicaly haveing the room to fit it are very different.

#4alright then, its just that i found an inlet manifold made for a mi16 engine and i was told that it would fit the vts engine, it is designed to fit weber 45's, and the manifold is going really cheap, but ive just been doing some research and by the sounds of it fitting webers 45's isnt a good idea on the 16v engine, i just got a tad excited when i saw how cheap the manifold was, also i read somewhere that you cant use a distributor on the 16v engine which would rule the carbs out, probably best to keep saving for some jenveys
my house mate has bike carbs on his 1.4 xsi and the sound is immense, its so addictive so im really only after that induction roar thats why i was thinking carbs as its the cheaper option (but i know carbs is a step backwards), and im not overly bothered by the extra power so seamed like a good option..

#6Could use an ignition only ecu, no need for a distributor
Weber carbs need to be fitted at a set angle so on the TU they would point right at the brake bias bar so would limit inlet length and filter setup -
#7sure ppl have fitted the inlet mani/plenum from the 200sx s13 to vts's, could of sworn ive read that, or theres the rover turo inlet. work required though

#8Could fit any inlet really with a lot of custom work and welding.
Have seen a rover turbo inlet put on a tu - very custom though! The engine it's bolted to is nice too, rotrex c30-94 YUM -

#10just let me get this round my head IF i decided to run carbs (of any sort) saying i had the inlet and the carbs its self, is it a case of just running the fuel pipe to the carbs connecting up the throttle cable and then fit an ignition only ecu and have it mapped/set up, which would render the fuel rail/injectors useless (but would be left in place to fill the holes)

#14I've just converted my VTS to run bike carbs
You would have to lower the fuel pressure from 3.5bar down to about 3.5psi.
I see no reason why you would not be able to remove the standard inlet manifold and fuel rail with injectors, fit the manifold pressure sensor into your new manifold, wire up the carbs throttle position sensor up the the Saxo loom and run the standard Saxo management with the injector plugs disconnected.
Unfortunately ignition only management is very expensive, and throttle bodies are also very expensive and also need expensive management.
As for cold start, plumbing up the choke wouldn't be very much work at all.

ive got a feeling im gonna start a summer project soon, might get an old 106 with a f88kled engine and buy a 1.6xsi engine and fit either a rallye inlet or some bike carbs and fit vt suspension and brakes and fit xsi bumpers and spray the whole lot in a matt colour and have it stripped with a bolt in cage and two buckets and harnesses, wanna try that challenge to build a track car for less than a grand lol

iv taken abit of a knock myself today, cnc machine is down due to an electronics failure of some sort so im having to holt my project till its fixed! bummer eh

#21If you have cnc you can make a manifold from a solid lump--that how i made the first one
I can supply you a water jet 10mm plate that has all hole spacings for jenvey tbodies .all you need then is to make the head side and weld up runners to it
