vtr cuts out when turn steering wheel??

   just been to view a 51 plate vtr with 48k at an insurance auction, started and revved fine, turned the steering wheel and it cuts out instantly??
   ecu light is on and there is no central locking fob just a key. any ideas??
   also moves fowards and back ok.

   Is it when the car is idling and you turn the steering wheel it cuts out?
   
   If so then likley to be a weak alternator.
   
   ECU light will just be a sign of a faulty sensor more than likley, nothing too expensive. Diognostics will tell you which one, or you can unplug the battery and the ECU error log will clear taking the ECU light off.
