is it my clutch?

sometimes i can put the car into first gear and the car will stay in neutral (rev but not move) and will not go into second, so i have to put it into third, catch the bite and then put back into first and then start to drive.

and also when im 'racing on track days' my car will rev right up to the limiter really quickly but my speed wont budge (as if ive still got my foot on the clutch)

now 6 out of 7 days a week the car runs perfect no matter how i drive it but everynow and again one of these problems will happen.

    anybody got any ideas?

    thank you.

Suspect gearbox or linkage issues. Hard to be sure fro here though mate. Clutch would be either worn/not worn and it only happens now and then would suspect clutch is okay

you see... 2 replies, one says clutch is fine, one says clutch is slipping. i agree with the gear linkages comment and the comment that the clutch is fine if it only does it everynow and again and the comment that the clutch is slipping.

i can't make up my mind!

ok i think most people agree its the clutch slipping

how does this expain the fact that it will not go into gear every now and again though? is this a gearbox issue?

    thanks.

my clutch is slipping and its only intermittent

difficulty getting into first and second is a symptom of a dodgy clutch
