Air Bag light flashing/constantly on.

  1. #1
Hi all, hoping for a little reply to this issue.
I bought a Saxo last friday and in the last three times of driving it the air bag light has started flashing half way through my drive, and today remained on.
I think twice it's happened after I've used electrics in the car, like opened the window or fiddling with dials.
Can anyone tell me if it's a major problem I have to get sorted immediately, or maybe it is dodgy electrics that I can get seen to, or if it's not important?
    Thanks in advance!

Look under front seats. See those orange cables? They are connected to the seat belt pre tensioners, undo the connectors on these oraneg cables and clean then reconnect. ++++Best practice is to disconnect battery when doing this++++

as above. just make sure they wires are not split or damaged and plug them in tight

Are they located under both the front seats or just the driver side? Do you have to remove the front seats to get to them or are they easily accessible without removing the front seats?

    Both front seats.

And you can get to them without removing the seats.

Very simple to locate, just look under your seats. If this does not fix your problem its not a mot fail, allot of people who have swapped there interior for buckets/ leathers have theres on also. It is just annoying if you are picky like me!

Does the airbag and tensioners still work with the light flashing?

no the airbags and pretensioners wont work with the light on or flashing.
i had a constant problem with them on. so i soldered a 2ohm resistor to each wire under the seat to 'bypass' the connection to the seat. got rid of my airbag light, my pretensioners wont work in a crash now but atleast my airbag will (even though they never work anyway)
