pass seatbelt

    the part that screws into the b pillar. when i replaced carpet at weekend, saw bolt was little loose so tightened it up. but when i moved the plastic part it unscrewed the bolt again. took it all way off, and seemed no parts where missing, any ideas whats going on? as its pretty unsafe for any passengers

    I think there should be a captive nut inside the sill that sound like it has come off. Not sure if you can reach but remove rear passenger trim panel stick hand inside the panel and reach down to where the seat belt lower mount is. You might be able to retreive the nut and get the bolt back on it and tightened up. Failing that may need to cut the inner sill for access, fix the problem then weld it back up again.

    this is front pass seatbelt.

    When you remove the bolt and spacer can you see a thread inside the b-pillar hole? I assume you are trying the following config...

    Bolt ---> Seat belt ---> Spacer ---> Plastic Trim ---> B-Pillar Thread

    must be a thread in there as it tightens up. but then soon as the plastic belt thing move bolt moves to thus unscrewing itself. but everything is there as in bolt spacer so why isn;t it working properly?

    When you've tightened it up, are you able to move the plastic belt freely e.g swing the seat belt about, or does it appear to be trapped between the bolt head and the spacer?

    Yes I realise that mate, and I am assuming you mean the lower seat belt mount as you mention the carpet being changed. If you have skinny arms and reach into the sill via behinf the rear trim you might be able to find the nut that I think has snapped off.

    You say that the nut goes in but does not tighten, this nopw makes me think the threads are buggered in the captive nut and may need re-tapping If you can find a tap big enough.

    if u tighten the bolt then move or swing the plastic the bolt moves with it and looses it off.

    Hmm.. there should be a bit of play so that the seatblet can swivel freely. How tight are you making the bolt? I use a pretty hefty wrench on mine and make sure it's rock solid - the plastic seatbelt clip should spin freely no matter how tight you make it.

    Can you post a photo of it when it's all screwed in (without the plastic cap on the main bolt)

    its like its missing something but everything is there compared to mine. do it up solid the plastic moves bolt moves with it. gonna have another look at it weekend see if somethings broke but doesn't look like it
