'Must Haves' performance wise..

Hi, just wondering what other mods you can do to improve performance and I'm not talking basic filter, exhaust, cams.. Little things that make the difference?

Also is there anywhere in Sussex that do ecu remappin?
  2. #2
So a cam in your opinion is a minor mode?
  3. #3
your asking for little things that make a difference but you want a remap which is gonna cost about £400?

you can never under estimate a good old service to recoup any lost bhp

    new engine/ car?

from what i have seen on here a remap is only worth while once you have a good few mods, including cams.

Theres a fast ford place in eastbourne that does remaping, theres a place i believe in crawley aswell. Its in an industrial estate

A place in eastbourne? I didnt know this. I dont suppose you know anything about them?

Yeh I think the Crawley place may have shut down coz it don't seem to be there no more! And I'm pushed toward vts conversion no point cam vtr engine just do the swap

Lols, talk about missing the initial question.

As for the 'little things' that make a difference to perfromance, depends if you mean the performance of the chassis or engine.

Chassis would benifit from stiffer ARB bushes, stiffer wishbone mounts, stiffer engine mounts. Replacement shocks (Bilstein OEM's for example). A good brake set up. Braided hoses. Decent disc brakes/pads. Decent tyres etc.

Engine would benifit from a good service, high quality oil, spark plugs, new fuel filter and air filter.

    Must haves are not little things so;

Tyres, Engine & Gearbox Oil - All are always overlooked. Infact its shocking how many of you spend over a grand on a few bits for your car but wont put in oil that costs more than 30 quid or buy a set of tyres that would transform the car.

Brakes - Braided hose, better pads & better discs, at least. Bigger brake kits are cheap as chips for the sax and standard setup is terrible.

Can you recommend a good brake setup please that will fit under standard vtr alloy also? I must admit the standard setup is shocking to put it nicely..

You must be doing something wrong, standard brakes are fine. A good set of pads and a set of braided hoses + fluid will improve the bite though.

Ok I will look into them then, are the upper and lower strut braces worth a buy also? They get mixed opinions? My sax stability being lowered 50mil is not great..

Any ideas how to improve this? And it's already got spax adjustable shocks and dampers, local garage said it's due to being lowered lack of stability?

dont bother with upper strut brace, just get a lower, they do make a difference.

also im guessing you never bothered getting your suspention and geometry set up properly (camber, tracking, toe, castor) , so invest in that.

it is true the lower ones work better than the upper ones BUT when the difference is felt when both of them are used together as it boxes up the front end
