Whats the difference in the 2 lamba sensors

I have problems with my engine running correctly, I have changed the ICV, Map sensor, Temp sensor. All about 2 months ago so its not those. Im thinking it could be the lamba sensors, one of mine is in my 4-2-1 manifold, and the other is capped off. The engine management light has been on but went off a week ago. Just wondering what the difference is as i dont want to replace both if i can help it.

Change the one which was originally before the CAT, i.e. the one that's screwed into the exhaust.

i have been having problems with mine running. i had a fuel trim fault apprently, my friend who did the diagnostics said the front lambda controls the air/fuel ratio, and the 2nd one gives feedback to the ecu on how the first lambda is working so it can run more efficiently- i think thats what he said! im about to replace my front lambda as on the diagnostics it shows what each sensor is doing and mine wasnt doing anything lol

The second lambda does jack - just tells the ECU whether the CAT is working to an 'efficient' level or not. If it isn't, the engine light comes on the dash.

Mine still comes on occasionally - sleeving the second lambda isn't a bulletproof solution. Doesn't make any difference to how the car runs though.

Right so its the one that now screws into my manifold, not the one i have sleeved. cheers

i dont even have a lambda sensor and the car works fine

Yip, the one you want to renew is the one that should be screwed into your manifold at present.

It does run without a lambda, but the fuel trims aren't 'fine tuned' from their defaults. I'd certainly be looking at fitting one.

    Cheers mate!

And yeah dont run your car without a sensor.. its there for a reason..
